Listening Through Lent: Lest I Forget

King of my life I; crown Thee now, Thine shall the glory be;
Lest I forget Thy thorn crowned brow, lead me to Calvary.
Show me the tomb where Thou wast laid,
Tenderly mourned and wept, angels in robes of light arrayed
Guarded Thee whilst Thou slept.

Let me like Mary, through the gloom, come with a gift for Thee;
Show to me now the empty tomb, Lead me to Calvary.
WHEN CHRIST DRAWS US TO HIMSELF WE RESPOND AND OBEY!
May I be willing Lord to bear, daily my cross for Thee.|
Even the cup of grief to share, Thou hast done all for Me.

CHORUS
Lest I forget Gethsemane,
Lest I forget Thine agony;
Lest I forget Thy love for me
Lead me to Calvary.
~Jennie E. Hussey 1921

Christ has called us out of this world to serve and suffer for Him.
As He says in John 15:18-20:
“If the world hates you, you know that it hated me before it hated you. If you were of the world, the world would love its own. Yet because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, therefore the world hates you. Remember the word that I said to you, a servant is not greater than his master. If they persecuted Me,they will also persecute you. If they kept my word, they will keep yours also. But all these things they will do to you for My name’s sake, because they do not know Him who sent Me.”

We have seen! Revelation response!

No wound no scar!
Yet as the Master shall the servant be
And pierced are the feet that follow Me,
But thine are whole, can He have followed far
Who has no wound or scar?

~Amy Carmichael.

Philippians 1:29
For to you it has been granted for Christ’s sake, not only to believe in Him but also to suffer for His sake.
