And the glory of the Lord shall be revealed,
and all flesh shall see it together:
for the mouth of the Lord has spoken it.
See the glory of God? Really? We, who are so weak and frail? Could we bear it?
I think of Moses, boldly demanding in Exodus 33, that God show him His glory. And God agrees! But even the mighty Moses must be hidden in a cleft of the rock, covered by the hand of God while His goodness and majesty passes by. Only then may Moses peek out, and see God’s back. For, God says, “No one may see me and live.” How then, shall we see His glory?
God keeps His promise. He does not forget that we are dust. He reveals Himself to us. To dust.
The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth. (John 1:14)
