Whether you turn to the right or to the left, your ears will hear a voice behind you, saying, “This is the way; walk in it.”
Recently we borrowed a GPS from a friend for a foray into the city. What a treat for us to have some direction while braving unfamiliar turf. Not even the somewhat bossy voice coming to us over the device could take away our enjoyment of the novelty of having our every turn directed, assuring us that we were on the correct path to our destination.
How different is that from our response to God’s directives?
Is it a pleasure to know that God sovereignly ordains the details of your life, caring for your daily needs, drawing you to Himself, directing your paths? Or are you reluctant to give over control to the Lord and annoyed when your path seems different than what you expected?
How you respond to the Lord’s voice will make the difference between being lost in the suburbs or on track to a destination of His design.
